After 12 years in the Wedding Industry, I felt a strong desire to create a safe space for brides to come and not only find the dress of their dreams, but experience Bridal Shopping as it should be. Private, Size-Inclusive and Stress-free.

There is so much pressure on the modern bride. Social media has painted a picture that brides need to look a certain way, wear a trending style of gown and love every step of their wedding planning…but that just isn’t reality. The reality is, planning a wedding is stressful and dress shopping is initially quite daunting.

When we opened our doors in Armagh, we didn’t simply want to create another place to shop for a wedding dress. We wanted to create a space where brides could slow down, feel comfortable, be themselves and, most importantly, feel celebrated.

It all started with a love of Bridal

I still have all of my wedding magazines I used to buy with my chore money at the age of 11. They are stored in a memory box for me to cherish forever. Every academic and life decision I have ever made was with the goal of being exactly where I am now. With my own little piece of Bridal Heaven.

After more than 12 years working in the bridal industry, I’d seen just how different every bride’s experience could be.

I’d also seen what could happen when a bride walked into an appointment feeling nervous, overwhelmed or unsure of what to expect and then left feeling confident, beautiful and with newfound confidence.

That feeling forever stayed with me.

I wanted to create a boutique where the experience wasn’t about rushing through dresses or fitting into someone else’s idea of what a bride should look like. It was about getting to know the woman standing in front of me, understanding her vision and helping her discover what makes her feel incredible.

And that’s where the idea for House of Hurson began.

We called it a bridal haven because that’s exactly what we wanted it to be.

A little escape from hectic wedding planning. Somewhere you can come in, take a breath, have a glass of something lovely, and enjoy being a bride.

Because wedding planning can sometimes feel like a long list of decisions.

One of the most important things to us at House of Hurson is inclusivity.

We never want a bride to walk through our doors wondering whether we’ll have something that fits her, whether she’ll feel comfortable trying dresses on, or whether she’ll be able to see herself as a bride.

We carefully select our collections and samples with different bodies, styles and personalities in mind, because bridalwear should be about celebrating you. Beautiful, powerful and perfect just the way you are.
