How the Awards Work
The National Wedding Industry Awards of Northern Ireland celebrate businesses across the Northern Ireland wedding industry.
As the Awards have grown, we have continued to develop the process to make it clearer, more inclusive and more credible.
Here is exactly how the 2026 Awards work.
Nominations
Couples, clients and supporters were invited to nominate wedding businesses they wanted to recognise.
Businesses did not have to be existing Wedding Help NI members to be nominated.
Nominations then closed before the Awards moved into public voting.
Initial Public Voting
Nominated businesses taking part in the Awards enter the initial public voting stage.
This stage allows businesses to build support and introduces their customers, followers and audiences to the National Wedding Industry Awards of Northern Ireland and WeddingHelpNI.com.
This is not a fixed numerical elimination round.
We do not simply take an arbitrary number such as the top five or top ten businesses from every category.
Eligible businesses that participate in the process, comply with the Awards rules and have not withdrawn may progress to the finalist stage.
The number of finalists can therefore vary between categories.
Verification & Finalists
Once the initial voting stage closes, Wedding Help NI reviews the participating businesses and voting activity.
This can include checking:
- eligibility;
- category placement;
- duplicate or invalid voting;
- compliance with voting rules; and
- whether a business wishes to remain involved.
Finalists are then announced.
There is no requirement to purchase an Awards ticket or attend the ceremony to become a finalist.
Finalist Voting
Finalists then enter a further two-week public voting period.
All valid, verified votes received during the earlier voting period will carry forward and continue to count towards the final result. Voting does not restart from zero.
As voting is limited to one vote per person, anyone who has already voted for a finalist does not need to vote again.
During the finalist stage, finalists can let their followers, clients and supporters know that they have reached the final and encourage anyone who has not yet voted to cast their vote before voting closes.
At the end of the finalist voting period, all valid, verified votes received across the full voting process will be counted.
Unless expressly stated otherwise for a particular category, the finalist with the highest total number of valid, verified votes will win their category.
Winners
Finalist voting is verified before results are confirmed.
One winner will then be announced in each applicable category.
There will not be an automatic Highly Commended recipient in each category this year.
The National Wedding Industry Awards of Northern Ireland 2026 take place at the Culloden Estate & Spa on Sunday 15 November 2026.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are the Awards only for Wedding Help NI members?
No.
Eligible Wedding Help NI members and non-members can participate.
This is intentional.
We believe there should be a clear distinction between paying for Wedding Help NI membership and winning a Wedding Help Award.
Membership buys membership benefits. It does not buy Awards success.
Why can non-members participate?
We want the Wedding Help Awards to represent the wider Northern Ireland wedding industry.
If couples believe a business deserves recognition, we do not believe that business should automatically be excluded simply because it has not purchased a Wedding Help NI membership.
There is another important reason.
The Awards introduce new businesses and their audiences to Wedding Help NI.
When businesses share their voting links, their customers, followers and supporters visit WeddingHelpNI.com.
That introduces more people to the platform and to the hundreds of suppliers and venues listed on it.
More businesses participating.
More people sharing.
More couples visiting.
More people discovering Wedding Help NI suppliers.
Growing that audience strengthens the overall Wedding Help NI platform and creates greater potential exposure for the businesses investing in it.
Why am I paying for membership if a non-member can win?
Because Wedding Help NI membership is considerably more than Awards eligibility.
Depending on membership level, members can receive benefits including:
- a full supplier profile on WeddingHelpNI.com;
- year-round visibility to engaged couples;
- Wedding Help NI Facebook community access;
- supplier advertising opportunities;
- social media opportunities;
- wedding fair opportunities;
- podcast and content opportunities;
- supplier networking;
- platform features;
- promotional campaigns; and
- additional opportunities associated with Platinum and VIP membership.
A non-member participating in the Awards does not automatically receive those benefits.
Awards participation and Wedding Help NI membership are separate.
Why do non-members have profiles on WeddingHelpNI.com?
Nominated non-members may receive a limited Awards Profile so they can participate in the voting process.
This is not a full Wedding Help NI supplier membership.
A limited Awards Profile exists primarily for Awards participation.
Paying members retain the wider profile, platform and promotional benefits associated with their membership.
Does paying more for membership give me more Awards votes?
No.
Silver, Gold, Platinum and VIP membership do not provide additional Awards votes.
A higher membership tier does not guarantee finalist status or an Award.
Membership level determines membership benefits.
It does not determine Awards results.
How many businesses become finalists?
There is no predetermined number of finalists in each category.
The first public voting stage is not designed simply to reduce every category to a fixed top five, top ten or another arbitrary number.
Eligible businesses that have participated, complied with the applicable rules and have not withdrawn may progress.
This means some categories may have more finalists than others.
So what is the purpose of the first voting stage?
The initial stage allows nominated businesses to participate, generate support and introduce their audiences to the Awards.
It also allows Wedding Help NI to establish the participating businesses before the main finalist stage.
Once this stage closes, eligibility and voting activity can be reviewed before finalists are confirmed.
The finalist stage is then the principal competitive voting stage used to determine the winner.
How is the winner decided?
Unless a particular category has an expressly published alternative process, the finalist receiving the highest number of valid, verified votes during the finalist voting stage will win that category.
Voting remains subject to verification.
Can Wedding Help NI remove votes?
Yes, where there are reasonable grounds to determine that votes are invalid.
This may include duplicate, automated, fraudulent or deliberately manipulated voting.
A high number of votes does not itself mean anything improper has happened.
Businesses are welcome to campaign and encourage genuine supporters to vote.
Is it one vote per person?
Yes.
The published rule for the 2026 Awards is one vote per person.
Attempts to deliberately circumvent voting restrictions may result in votes being removed.
Can a business opt out?
Yes.
Participation is entirely optional.
If a business does not want to participate, it can contact Wedding Help NI through Contact Admin / Support and request withdrawal.
Nobody is required to campaign, become a finalist, purchase a ticket, attend the Awards or participate in future Awards.
We want businesses involved because they want to be involved.
Does a finalist have to attend the Awards?
No.
Attendance is optional.
Becoming a finalist does not create an obligation to purchase a ticket or attend the Awards ceremony.
Do finalists receive free tickets?
No.
Awards tickets are separate from Awards participation and Wedding Help NI membership.
There are no automatic complimentary finalist tickets this year.
Purchasing a ticket does not influence voting, finalist status or Awards results.
Can a non-member become a finalist or winner?
Yes.
If the business is eligible and complies with the Awards process, a non-member can become a finalist and can win.
That separation is important to the credibility of the Awards.
A business should not have to purchase membership to be capable of winning.
Likewise, purchasing membership does not buy an Award.
Will non-members receive social media coverage if they become finalists or winners?
Wedding Help NI will promote the Awards, finalists, winners and Awards ceremony across our channels.
A non-member may therefore receive coverage specifically connected with their Awards achievement.
That is different from ongoing Wedding Help NI membership promotion.
Our paying members continue to receive the wider opportunities and benefits associated with their membership throughout the year.
Can a non-member join Wedding Help NI after participating in the Awards?
Yes.
We actively want the Awards to introduce new businesses to the Wedding Help NI platform.
A business can apply for membership if it wants access to the wider platform and membership benefits.
Joining does not provide additional Awards votes or alter existing results.
Why have we changed and developed the Awards?
The Wedding Help Awards are now in their third year and have grown considerably.
As they grow, the process needs to develop too.
Our objectives are to:
- make the process clearer;
- protect voting integrity;
- allow couples to recognise businesses they value;
- separate paid membership from Awards results;
- bring more businesses into the Wedding Help NI ecosystem;
- attract more couples to WeddingHelpNI.com;
- increase awareness of the suppliers and venues listed on the platform; and
- continue building a larger and stronger Northern Ireland wedding platform.
Opening the Awards more widely is part of that growth strategy.
Every business sharing WeddingHelpNI.com with its audience has the potential to introduce new couples to the platform.
That benefits the wider Wedding Help NI ecosystem.
Are the Awards “pay to win”?
No.
Membership payments do not provide additional votes or determine the winner.
Awards ticket purchases do not determine the winner.
Sponsorship does not purchase control over public voting results.
Where a category is decided by public voting, the result is based on the applicable valid, verified votes.
Does a sponsor choose the winner?
Not simply because they sponsor the Award.
Sponsorship does not give a sponsor control over public voting results.
If a particular Award ever uses a different judging mechanism, that process would be identified separately.
Are full voting figures published?
Wedding Help NI may publish overall Awards statistics or voting information where appropriate.
However, we are not required to publish complete raw voting records, individual voter information, security information or fraud-detection information.
This protects voter privacy and the integrity of the voting system.
Our Approach
The Wedding Help Awards are intended to be a positive celebration of the Northern Ireland wedding industry.
Not everyone will win.
But winning is not the only potential benefit.
The Awards bring businesses together.
They create exposure.
They introduce new audiences to Wedding Help NI.
They encourage businesses to showcase their work.
And they bring more couples onto WeddingHelpNI.com, where they can discover suppliers and venues across Northern Ireland.
As that audience grows, the Wedding Help NI platform becomes stronger.
That is the long-term objective.
