The Wedding Home Movie

When I look back a my own wedding, there are parts of the day I would have loved to see from the inside. The moments I wasn’t present for. The things my friends and family were doing while everything was happening so quickly around us. That feeling has stayed with me – and it’s really where this idea came from.

A different way of remembering your wedding

Not every couple wants a traditional wedding video. I hear that a lot.

Some love the idea of having something beautiful to look back on but perhaps don’t have the funds set aside, don’t want the big production or something that feels overly polished and not their style. I felt the same.

So I started thinking about another way of remembering a wedding day – something more relaxed, personal and a bit closer to how it actually felt. That’s how The Wedding Home Movie came about.

Captured by the people who know you best

The concept is simple.

The day before your wedding, I drop off two small camcorders. You give them to a couple of trusted people, or let them be passed around throughout the day.

There’s no filming schedule, no pressure and no right or wrong way to use them. It’s about capturing moments as they happen – from the inside.

The excitement in the morning. The nerves. The laughter. Messages from friends and family. The bits you don’t always get to see.

After the wedding, I take all of that footage and carefully edit it into a short film of around five minutes. I pair it with music and natural audio to create something that feels honest, nostalgic and true to your day.

It’s about how it felt, not how it looked.

Imperfect, in the best way

This isn’t designed to replace professional videography.

There’s no guarantee of specific moments, and it isn’t polished or cinematic – and that’s very much the point. It’s a memory piece. A home movie. Something warm and real that you’ll come back to years down the line.

It captures the in-between moments, the chaos, the quiet and the joy you didn’t even realise was happening.

Who it’s for

This tends to really resonate with couples who care more about atmosphere than perfection, who love candid moments and who want something personal rather than overly produced.

It wont be for everyone – and that’s completely okay. But for the couples it is right for, it becomes a really meaningful way to remember their wedding day.
