Lyttle Cakes

My name is Darren Lyttle, owner and cake designer at Lyttle Cakes, based in Magherafelt.

I began my cake journey just over 14 years ago when I struggled to find someone to make my daughter’s birthday cake.

Strongly influenced by my mum, who baked throughout my childhood, I asked her for a few tips, borrowed some baking items, and started baking with no previous experience.

Fast forward almost 12 years in the cake industry, we have now built our dream home, complete with a custom kitchen and consultation room for Lyttle Cakes. I work alongside my wife Laura, who is my biggest supporter and an essential part of the business.

Over the years I have won multiple awards, worked closely with my council, and maintained a continuous five-star food hygiene rating. Perfecting my craft, offering a high standard of service, and building strong relationships with my clients are among my top priorities, along with producing a beautiful final product.

I deliver throughout Northern Ireland and into Southern Ireland, and have worked with hundreds of venues and local suppliers. As one of the few male wedding cake designers in Northern Ireland who is entirely self-taught and who mainly specialises in fondant—while also working with buttercream—I can guide you through your cake journey. From choosing your cake flavours from my menu of twelve options to finalising the design in a personalised one-to-one consultation, I aim to help you create the wedding cake you have envisioned.
